Frequently asked questions
Why isn't there an account or login?
Clickboard doesn't need one. Your session lives in your browser's local storage instead — a name, a click count, and a country are enough to run a leaderboard without passwords, emails, or anything else that comes with real accounts. See the Privacy page for exactly what is and isn't stored.
Can I keep playing after I close the tab?
Yes. Closing or refreshing the tab doesn't end your session — your browser remembers it, and reopening Clickboard picks the same name and score back up automatically. This only carries over in the same browser on the same device, though: a private or incognito window, a different browser, or a different device starts you fresh with a new session at zero. See Rules & Fair Play for more.
Why does the leaderboard never reset?
The all-time board is exactly that: all-time. A score stays until someone beats it, the same way a high-score cabinet works. If you want a shorter horizon, the Today tab shows only sessions started since midnight UTC, and that one does reset daily.
How do I start over with a new name?
Reopening the site in a browser that already has a session just resumes it, so there's no in-page button for a clean slate. To start fresh, clear that browser's stored site data for Clickboard, or play from a different browser, a private/incognito window, or another device instead — any of those gets you a new entry form and a session starting at zero. If that ever leaves two sessions under the same name active on the same connection, only the higher score is kept — see Rules & Fair Play.
Why didn't all my clicks count?
The server accepts clicks at up to 15 per second, averaged over time. If you click faster than that for more than a short burst, the extra clicks are dropped and the counter on screen corrects itself at the next sync, about a second later. Ordinary clicking stays well under the limit. The counter can also briefly correct itself after a dropped connection. See Rules & Fair Play.
Why am I not on the Today board?
Today lists sessions that were started since midnight UTC. If you started your session on an earlier day and you're still playing it in the same browser, your score keeps growing on the all-time board, but it won't show under Today.
How is my country worked out if I don't have an account?
From your network connection at the time you play, not from anything you type. See the Privacy page for exactly what's derived and what's stored.
Is there a way to practice without appearing on the board?
Not currently. Every session that starts is eligible to appear on the board as soon as it has clicks, so even a quick test with a handful of clicks posts a real (if small) score. If you want to practise without a visible name, pick a nickname you don't mind seeing at the bottom of the board.
Something looks wrong with a score on the board — what do I do?
Send a message through the Contact page with the name, the score, and why it looks wrong. See Rules & Fair Play for what we can and can't do about it.
Do I have to pay for anything?
No. Clickboard is free to play, and the Store only accepts clicks from your own score, never real money. A name change costs 4,000 clicks, and your leaderboard total drops by that much. The site is supported by the ads shown on its information pages; the game page itself has none.
How fast can a person actually click?
Most people land somewhere between 5 and 8 clicks per second in a short burst, and fewer over a long session as the hand tires. The Click Speed Guide covers the common techniques, how to pace a long session, and how to avoid straining your hand.
